WelcomeThis web site, TheCarpenterCo.com, is an effort to use the name of this construction company of 30 years to honor the Lord in its retirement. Our God gave this business to us so we could serve Him and to prepare us for further full time Christian service. Your Works Are WonderfulThis is part 2 of an article that came out in the July 24th “Clergy Corner”. That article started out like this: At Grace Covenant Church in Gilbert, we have elected to celebrate One Year of Life for the children born to members of our congregation. A celebration day is held 3 months after the day of the child’s birth. This event celebrates the fact that the child has grown inside of his mother’s womb for approximately 9 months, prior to birth, and then has experienced 3 months of life outside of the womb. Witness to my extended familyI went back to Nebraska to my grandmother's funeral. While there I stayed with my Aunt from my dad's side of the family. During my stay, my Aunt asked me what the difference was between Catholics and Protestants. I explained it to her and sent her several phamplets and devotional material. My testimony of how God turned my life around to follow Him instead of myselfWhen I was about 8 years old, my mother had to go to a hospital for having depression and (what was called then) a mental breakdown following the death of her father. She was there for about 6 months. My Aunt came to stay with us (my sister and I) during the day while my dad worked on the farm. My aunt taught us how to pray at meals and that children's prayer of "Now I lay my head down to sleep and asked the Lord for my soul to keep".She also read from the scriptures. Young man from AlabamaI was remodeling an apartment complex in Mesa, Az. I needed a helper on the job so I hired a young man through a Temporary Service Co. He worked very hard all week. Friday at noon, he asked if he could have the afternoon off to buy some flowers for his wife and surprise her by taking her to lunch and a movie. They had come up from Alabama to get a new start. They had some marital difficulties in the past and were trying to get a fresh start. His nephew had come with them but had not found a job yet. My Most Emotional StoryI was contracted to remodel a Farm Home Administration home in Eloy, Az. On the last day of the job, the carpet and pad was delivered in the morning and carpet layer was to follow shortly after. At 11:00 a.m., a drunk, tired, and depressed carpet layer finally showed up. He proceeded to set in the corner of the family room eating his lunch and then dozing off. When waking him about 12:00 noon, He was still too drunk to get to work. The inspectors were to come at 5pm. And the carpet was to be in. |
